Setting up synchronization

Before a library can be shared, all collaborators must set up sync in EndNote 20. This will also give you a backup of your EndNote library in the cloud.

  1. Go to EndNote X9.
  2. Click Tools -> Sync.
  3. Fill in the username and password created for the EndNote Online account (You may have to fill in the same form you filled out when creating your account).
  4. When the form is completed, the EndNote Sync will begin.

Share your entire EndNote library with other students or colleagues

NB! Please note that you're sharing a complete library with your collaborator.

1. Sync your library with EndNote Online. If you already have an EndNote Online account, press the sync button and add your email address and your personal password for EndNote Online:  Edit -> Preferences -> Sync.

2. Send an email invitation to the persons you want to collaborate/share your library with. NB! The invitation must be sent to an email address affiliated with an EndNote Online account.

3. After the recipients have accepted your invitation and logged into their EndNote account, your library will be shared, including all references, attachments and PDFs.
4. Open the shared library by clicking File -> Open shared Library. Select Email-address -> Open.
5. If another person has shared a library with you, the file name will be this person’s e-mail:
