The Library's Pool of Resources for PhD Candidates

Introduction

Onboarding

Being a researcher is often described as taking part in an ongoing conversation. In order to understand what this conversation is about and who the participants are, you need to acquire an overview of the literature on the topic and know how to stay updated and critically evaluate what you find. Understanding basic search technique and how to use the databases and search engines efficiently, are crucial tools in this process.

The skills described above are often seen in relation to collecting and organizing the literature, using a reference handling tool. These two sets of tools are fundamental to being able to work efficiently throughout your studies.
