  3. Download the application Zotero 6 for Windows if you're using a Windows PC. Follow the instructions and choose Standard installation. The application is also available for other platforms, choose the one you're using, for example MacOS.

  4. Also install Zotero Connector which is available on the same page. The connector is available for Chrome, Firefox and Safari. The Safari Connector is bundled with Zotero, you can enable it from the Extensions pane of the Safari preferences. The Zotero Connector does not work with Internet Explorer. We recommend that you use another web browser.

You should see a Zotero menu in Word after the installation.

Create a Zotero account and set up synchronizing

Create an account on https://www.zotero.org/user/register. Having an online account makes it possible to synchronize your sources between the desktop application and the Zotero cloud. It also makes it possible to share groups with others.

You get unlimited storage by registering or adding your BI email to your Zotero account. Read more about our institutional subscription.

Open the Zotero desktop application after creating an account to set up syncing.

1. Choose Edit -> Preferences.

2. Choose Sync and fill in your user credentials.

3. Keep the preferences for syncing suggested by Zotero.

Institutional subscription

BI Norwegian Business School has an institutional Zotero subscription. This provides unlimited online storage for your Zotero files and allows you to synchronize PDFs, images, snapshots and other files among all your devices.

You can associate your account with institutional subscription in two ways.

1. New users can register with their e-mail address from BI (s-number@bi.no).

2. Existing users registered with a different email address can associate their account with BI by adding their institutional address on the settings page.

Go to your Storage settings in Zotero to see that your account is associated with BI.
