Don't forget to save a copy of your EndNote library to ensure you don't lose your work.
There are a number of ways to create a backup:
Do NOT save your EndNote library in a cloud environment, such as Dropbox or Google Drive or even a network drive. This will eventually corrupt or damage your library. It is strongly recommended to save your library on your local hard drive. Backups of your library can be saved in any cloud service.
You can save your EndNote library to a single compressed file in order to easily back up your library, or send a copy of the library on e-mail to yourself.

In order to set up sync, sharing and collaboration in an EndNote library, all users have to set up an EndNote Online account.
Before a library can be shared, all collaborators must set up sync in EndNote 21. This will also give you a backup of your EndNote library in the cloud.

An EndNote library consists of an EndNote library file with the suffix .enl and a .DATA-folder. To make a backup you must copy both the .enl-file and the .DATA-folder and put them in the same folder.
1. Find your library by using the File Explorer on your computer.
2. Copy BOTH the .enl-file and .DATA-folder.

3. Paste the files into a new folder.
